- All LBTBP lifeguards have received Hepatitis B vaccination or have signed a declination form.

LBTBP (established in 1936) operates a variety of programs, including an Exchange Program (established in 1988), which brings lifeguards from Australia and sends LBTBP personnel there, the Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Program (established in 1988), a SCUBA Search & Rescue Team (established in 1990), and the Beachwheels Program (established in 1992), which provides beach wheelchairs to people with various permanent or temporary disabilities.
- LBTBP has 30 SCUBA Search & Rescue Team Divers (PADI certified) including 1 Dive Instructor, 1 Assistant Dive Instructor, 1 Divemaster, 6 Advanced Open Water Divers, 16 Open Water Divers, and 5 Rescue Divers.
- LBTBP has 15 IRB operators/crew members (all NJSP-BSC certified), and 4 IRBs/RIBs.
- LBTBP sent 4 American lifeguard to Australia for their summer season 2009/2010.

Ocean Lifeguard Training Course (OLTC)
This four-day course teaches prospective lifeguards rescue techniques, surf awareness and policies from the LBTBP SOP Manual. Participants must successfully complete practical and written examinations.
American Red Cross Certifications
- All 192 LBTBP lifeguards are certified in CPR/AED-FPR and all are certified in ER or a higher certification.
- All 192 LBTBP lifeguards are ER certified.
- All 192 LBTBP lifeguards are Bloodborne Pathogens and Preventing Disease Transmission certified.
- 171 LBTBP lifeguards (18+yrs.) are AEO certified.
- 21 lifeguards (16-17yrs.) audited the AEO certification course.
ARC Instructors & Personnel Certified
- 23 of 70 ER instructors certified 93 people (81 are LBTBP personnel).
- 56 of 70 AEO/FPR instructors certified 212 people (200 are LBTBP personnel).
- 56 of 70 CPR/AED-FPR instructors certified 250 people (228 are LBTBP personnel).
Other Training, Certifications & Requirements
- 1 LBTBP lifeguard is a certified Paramedic and 2 LBTBP lifeguards are certified EMT-Basic (includes Defibrillation and AEO).
- 4 LBTBP lifeguards are certified in Class I Surface Ice Rescue training.
- 19 participants were New Jersey Stat Police-Boating Safety Course certified [18 are LBTBP personnel (includes 8 lifeguards [2 IRB personnel]), and 10 LITs].
- 192 lifeguards and 98 Beach Badge Checkers completed "Employment Practices" Training.
- All LBTBP lifeguards must annually pass a 200yard swim test in 2:50 minutes or less before the summer season.
- All LBTBP lifeguards are annually required to complete a 1000-meter ocean swim and 190 did. (Two were medically excused.)

The LBTBP LIT Program is designed to teach young men and women, ages 11 through 15, all aspects of ocean lifeguarding.
- 114 former LITs are working as lifeguards for LBTBP (37 women, 77 men) (13 are first year lifeguards and 101 are veteran lifeguards).
- 117 LITs (ages 13 through 15) in two four week sessions; Monday through Friday. First session: 18 girls, 35 boys. Second session: 22 girls, 42 boys.
- Of those that participated in both sessions (44), 16 LITs are girls, 28 LITs are boys.
- 38 B-LITs (ages 11 and 12) participated in two four week sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. First session: 7 girls, 10 boys. Second session: 9 girls, 10 boys .
- Of those that participated in both sessions (13), 6 B-LITs were girls, 7 B-LITs were boys.
- 19 LITs are certified in ARC-CPR/FPR, ARC-Bloodborne Pathogens and ARC-PDT.
- 19 LITs are certified in ARC Emergency Response.
- Each LIT must annually pass a 150yard swim test in 2:25 minutes (B-LIT's - 2:30) or less before the start of the current LIT Program.
- As part of the LBTBP Lifeguard In Training Program, each LIT participates in the LBTBP Ocean Lifeguard Training Course.
