In addition, you must either pass the LBTBP lifeguard swim test before OLTC begins or get special permission from the beach supervisor. Such permission is normally given only if the candidate is within a few seconds of passing the test.
Note that in competitive swimming, “freestyle” technically means you can swim any stroke you choose. However, it is customary to use “freestyle” to mean “front crawl,” the fastest and most common of the swimming strokes, and we follow this convention.
