To be hired as a lifeguard for LBTBP, you must:

• complete an application.
• pass a swim test.
• pass an American Red Cross Emergency Response course.
• pass OLTC or have current LBTBP LIT certification (level 2 or higher).
• complete W-4 and I-9 forms (and supply the necessary documentation).
• be at least 16 years old by your first day of work.
• obtain working papers (if you are under age 18).
• Possess adequate vision, hearing acuity, physical ability, and stamina to perform the duties of an open water lifeguard.
• display proper attitude.

No one will be hired unless he or she meets all of the above criteria.

It is possible to meet all of the above criteria and still not be hired. This occurs when there are more qualified applicants than there are positions available. Normally, when this happens the candidates are offered positions according to the recommendation of the OLTC instructors and the rankings of the OLTC students.

Candidates may also be rejected for other reasons relating to the ability to successfully perform the duties of the lifeguard job.
